Getting in Shape
Step one is to ditch your shoes when walking. If you decide to run you will need them, but I will talk about that in a minute. For casual walking no shoes feels great and is better. You will grip the sand with your toes, which triggers all the small muscles in your feet, therefore building muscle. When running, you need to wear shoes to support your knees and hips. Sand is uneven so it can be really rough on your body, but with supportive shoes your workout will be a breeze. Try to incorporate sprints with your running or jogging. Try to do a full on sprint for around 10 to 15 seconds every 10 minutes or so. Within no time your body will be toned. Okay not really in no time, but working out on the sand can cause you to lose up to 30% more calories. So maybe a few months of working out on the beach and you will be happy with your results.
